i usually hate summer in the movie department because all the movie at the cinema suck incredibly much.
but last night i saw a movie that is definitely part of the mindless entertainment and yet i loved it.
i saw fright night. the description of the movie said horror comedy. sounds completely stupid and it is but also the horror is actually scary and the fun is funny and i was totally looking for relaxing movie and i found it.
so if you wanna see colin farrel as a bad ass vampire and anton yelchin as a bad ass geek go see fright night ! also i found out what " puce " is lol!

Irina, I saw Fright Night last week. I thought it was alright, better than I expected. Puce lol!

I really enjoyed Captain America and X-Men First Class this summer. The Avengers is going to an awesome movie I think. Is it next May yet? crazy

PostSubject: Re: Movie thread 2   30.08.11 20:13

i was a big x-men cartoons fan. when the x-men revolution cartoons appeared i was outraged. and then the first x-men movies were more based on the x-men revolution cartoons and i hated them.

but then x-men first class arrived. i was like, oh great one more movie that is gonna butcher my x-men love but no, this one was actually good. i liked first class very, very much.

but captain america never appealed to me.

i am still hoping for a spiderman movie that won't suck. lol!

I didn't think Captain America was as good as First Class, but I still liked it. I thought Chris Evans was really good, and Stanley Tucci is amazing is everything he does.

LOL Irina. From what I've heard about the new Spiderman reboot, it's supposed to be very good. Andrew Garfield was good in The Social Network.

Conan the Barbarian was BAD. Really bad. Just avoid it.

it never occurred to me to watch conan. i saw ages ago a photo of schwarzenegger playing conan and i still have nightmares about it. i don't want to risk anything like it again lol!

i fell in love with andrew garfield when i saw Boy A. after that i saw him in " never let me go " and " the social network ", neither of which made him look as good of an actor as Boy A did. but somehow i think it's hard to make worse spidermen movies then the ones that are already out there so i have some hopes.

My friend wanted to see Conan. Unfortunately, I hated paying all that money for 3D and a crappy movie. It was horrible. So bad. I want those two hours of my life back. grrrrrrrrrmur

I enjoyed the second Sherlock Holmes movie, but I didn't like all the slo-mo action scenes. The first time they did was cool, but every action scene doesn't need to be that way.

Irina, what's wrong with "The skin I live in"? - ok I admit it's one of the weirdest films I've seen recently but wasn't that bad Twisted Evil .

@ Malgosia - well, i am accustomed to the " telenovela " like story line of almodovar movies, but this just seemed to much for me and i did not get the point. what was he trying to convey with all of that?
i read all the talk about playing with the genders and all that. i did not see it. i just saw laughable characters, with implausible actions.
and i don't mind weird. i liked other almodovar movies like " la malaeducation " or " hable con ella ", but in those i saw the weird as a way of conveying the point.
i am very curious why did you like it? what was the idea that you got from the movie?

@ Kiki - i am quite over the slo-mo action sequence even before Sherlock. i have a feeling half of the movies made after Crouching tiger, hidden dragon would be a lot shorter if that movie would have not invented those kind of action sequences Razz

I really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes 2. You're right about the slo-mos - probably there were too many but my friend said Guy Ritchie is in love with the slow-mo button and the movie is totally on his style.

As for "The skin I live in" - no idea what was the general idea Almodovar had. To me it was a thriller about blind, extreme revenge. Really disturbing one. I'm not a huge fan of Almodovar, so far I've only seen "Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!", "All About My Mother", "Broken Embraces".

agree about the dresses. haven't seen a nice one yet. they all seem kind of "unshaped". don't know how to express it.

Are you happy with the results of the Oscars? I haven't seen "The Artist" yet but I really want to!

i also loved " the artist ". i went expecting to be meah about it but i came out of the theater dancing and singing and with a huge smile that stayed with me for days. even now i smile when i think about it. whether it's a oscar worthy movie, i don't know, but in the pile of under average movies, it stand out.

angelina jolie freaked me out. that woman needs a sandwich and really soon.

but overall the oscar ceremony was as usual quite boring, billy cristal was not all that funny. and the movies this year were mainly very, very disappointing to me.

i loved the cirque de soleil bit. they were amazing.
