Irina, what's wrong with "The skin I live in"? - ok I admit it's one of the weirdest films I've seen recently but wasn't that bad Twisted Evil .

@ Malgosia - well, i am accustomed to the " telenovela " like story line of almodovar movies, but this just seemed to much for me and i did not get the point. what was he trying to convey with all of that?
i read all the talk about playing with the genders and all that. i did not see it. i just saw laughable characters, with implausible actions.
and i don't mind weird. i liked other almodovar movies like " la malaeducation " or " hable con ella ", but in those i saw the weird as a way of conveying the point.
i am very curious why did you like it? what was the idea that you got from the movie?

@ Kiki - i am quite over the slo-mo action sequence even before Sherlock. i have a feeling half of the movies made after Crouching tiger, hidden dragon would be a lot shorter if that movie would have not invented those kind of action sequences Razz

Good point, Irina. LOL

I'm hoping to see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy some time this week while it's here.

I really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes 2. You're right about the slo-mos - probably there were too many but my friend said Guy Ritchie is in love with the slow-mo button and the movie is totally on his style.

As for "The skin I live in" - no idea what was the general idea Almodovar had. To me it was a thriller about blind, extreme revenge. Really disturbing one. I'm not a huge fan of Almodovar, so far I've only seen "Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!", "All About My Mother", "Broken Embraces".

agree about the dresses. haven't seen a nice one yet. they all seem kind of "unshaped". don't know how to express it.

Angelina Jolie's right leg became a star of its own. lol!

Are you happy with the results of the Oscars? I haven't seen "The Artist" yet but I really want to!

Malgosia, I've seen The Artist twice. I absolutely love it, and I'm so glad it won so many Oscars. Smile

i also loved " the artist ". i went expecting to be meah about it but i came out of the theater dancing and singing and with a huge smile that stayed with me for days. even now i smile when i think about it. whether it's a oscar worthy movie, i don't know, but in the pile of under average movies, it stand out.

angelina jolie freaked me out. that woman needs a sandwich and really soon.

but overall the oscar ceremony was as usual quite boring, billy cristal was not all that funny. and the movies this year were mainly very, very disappointing to me.

i loved the cirque de soleil bit. they were amazing.
