Well, we´ve expected it, though it still is a kind of shocking. I mean, not concidering his injury, that´s logical, but I can imagine how are his big fans feeling right now...
Yes, it´s pity that two of the top skaters have stopped right at the beginning of the season. Yet, the show must go on and let´s hope it won´t have any negative effects on Brian and other top skaters concerning motivation.

However, he wasn't among my favourites I feel sorry for him.
And in my opinion these unexpected retirements won't do good to the level of figure skating. Neutral

Me too ! Crying or Very sad

I am not a fan of Stéphane Lambiel, I understand the sadness of his fans because I was very sad when I knew and saw the good-byes of Alexeï Yagudin.

Stéphane will be surement invited in big international galas .

Sad These were shocking news Sad I really feel sorry for his fans - to quit before OG. But he's right - health is more important, and I'm sure he will take a part in many galas so we'll keep on seeing him on the ice Smile

Frankly, I didn't expect it to be true at first... Even though I am not a fan of him, it is still a pity Stephan has to pack in skating because of the injury.

I didn't see this coming. Nobody did.
I'm not a big fan of his but right now I'm very sorry for his fans. Despite the fact that I do not share their feelings, the whole situation makes me think a lot about the way I will feel in a couple years, when Brian will announce his retirement.

Oh...He was a skater who always added some drama and crazy costumes to the figure skating. He made the rivalry more interesting to watch.

It must be hard for his fans. Announcing retirement when the season begins...
I understand his reason though: he suffers from injury which enables him to skate at his fullest potential. and after all he is a twice world champion so he is not satisfied with being out of medal contention: as he said "(..)after winning gold at Worlds twice and silver at the Olympic Games, I aim for nothing less than gold medals.”

Goodness me!! Suddenly two of the top male skaters retire at the start of this season.

I'm sorry for the 'Ladybugs' - they must be devastated, though I can understand why he is retiring - such an injury makes maintaining his standards impossible.

I wish him a happy future & hope that he will be able to skate in shows for many more years.

NOOOwww!!
Damn does injuries...

And he's not able to do any exhibitions in the future or... this really s*cks. I mean he was a good skater, not allways the best in his jumps, but still his programmes allways looked good.

Adelina, don't worry! I am sure we can see him in shows in the future! Hopefully, but I think it depends on his injury. Btw, I didn't hear that he won't be able to skate anymore.

As far as I understand, Stephane intends to take part in shows but needs to recover from his injury first.

I don't now completely what Evgeni will do... According to I read about him, he say "I will come back" and then I see "maybe he won't come back". So I'm not sure he'll come back or not. And for two years he's not there also, I mean that Smile

If he wanna come back, why didn't he entry any competitions until this time? He think he will explose a bit on EC or WC? Without any other competitons?

Ok, I know he is the "BIG" skater...but I don't think it is the right way, if sy wanna come back after a long break and says all the time "I wanna win the 2010 olympics".

My best guess is if Plushenko appears at all it will be at the Cup of Russia, but that's a big if, LOL. What people "say" they will do and what they really do is, often, two completely different things, LOL.
