Yes, its HUGE!

Australia, New Zealand & South Africa are the big three in world rugby, France & England are the big two in Europe.

Ireland tend to be a bit like Thomas Verner - consistently inconsistent! I just hope they can hold it together, win their last two matches, top the group...& maybe even make the semi finals for the first time (apart from last time, they have always made the quarter finals)!

Thanks ladies...... bisousfleurs

(I have an interest in rugby union, my dad enjoyed it years ago.....)

It seemed to be the best way on a skating board to explain the up-down nature of the Irish rugby team! On their good days (like last Saturday) they can hold their own with anyone, on their bad days they can loose to anyone - I worry a bit about Russia next Saturday......but I hope their fighting spirit & pride can see them through!

Didn''t want to talk about tennis anymore on the general thread.....

Ireland are away to Hungary in Euro group 2, winner to play either Latvia or Egypt.

Continuing my patriotic theme......I'm happy to say that Ireland won again - ran in nine tries too! - this morning at the Rugby World Cup, their last group match is next Sunday againist Italy - a tough side.

Thank you Kiki!

Wales are a very talented side but I will just have to hope for another good performance from Ireland. I think it should be tight - hopefully an interesting match!

Well, Ireland's joy ride at the Rugby World Cup came to an end this morning at they lost the quarter final to Wales Sad One of my colleagues who watched the match said that Wales got off to a blinder of a start with an early converted try & fight as they did, Ireland could get right up to but just couldn't quite get over the Welsh line.

Wales next play France Drapeau who beat England in quarter final 2.

The other two quarter finals are played tomorrow.

It was fun while it lasted!

Ireland maybe out pleures but I can keep you informed about the Rugby World Cup, Australia beat South Africa & New Zealand beat Argentina.

The quarter-finals have been really peculiar this time - three of the four group winners lost to other group runners-up, which means that there is only one unbeaten team left in - the All Blacks. scratch

Maybe they need to consider having eight groups of three teams playing each other, with only the group winners going forward to the quarter-finals? Idea

Semi- finals next weekend are Wales v. France & Australia v. New Zealand.

Well, RWC is over.

This morning New Zealand edged France in a very tight final & on Friday Australia beat Wales for third place. (you can see that my support is like the kiss of death for any team - its amazing that Brian has won as much as he has!!)
