The translation :

Excelling in the Land of the rising sun

Three weeks after a disappointing fourth place at TEB, Brian Joubert takes on NHK Trophy, the ISU GP taking place in Nagano, Japan from Thursday to Sunday. Very popular in the Land of the rising sun, Joubert hopes to excel after his performance in Paris. « I want to make a good performance. I mostly wish to realize two good programs. Obviously I’d be very happy to win this GP and I want very much to qualify for the final. There’s no other choice for this, I have to be the first. It’s the same context than last year.»

The poitevin knows he’s capable once more to make a great performance and to get rid of the doubts coming from a mixed season beginning. « It’s quite ambiguous because if you consider the results it’s not good but I have good sensations. I have two good programs and I feel it. Somehow if I refer to year 2007 when I won everything, I don’t want to redo the same year. I was strong very early and then it was hard from December on. I prefer starting on the same basis than in 2004 when I was fourth in each GP and I was at the top in February/March. That’s what we’re looking for considering OG.»

Some alterations have been made on the programs by Albena Denkova, Maxim Staviski present in Poitiers last week after a welcomed break. «After Bercy I stopped four days because I was exhausted. Then with Albena and Maxim we did some alterations because some things didn’t work. There was too much choreography in some parts of the programs, mostly where the quads are and it was unsettling me a lot. We simplified and I feel more composed at the beginning of the programs.»

Trophy NHK will be revealing. «I mostly wish to realize two good programs.» insists Joubert. A good occasion to get rid of doubts and to make a strong impression on people a couple months before OG.

Wink

I am delighted by what says Brian, because it shows that he changed rifle of shoulder on the way of conceiving his performances and his programs. He knows that he has excellents programs but in more decide to drop the question of wins it, at least to put it in more deaf voice to let speak about the thing main part: The pleasure on the ice.I think that this is fundamental. He is going to be able to resume some pleasure, and with the envy besides winning that he always has but there with a small stake on the quiet (what is not more bad), both major elements will be combined and thus can allow him to get back confidence in him, if everything takes place well, and I do not see why it would be there otherwise;), and to have a stronger mental then if everything takes place well.

In brief, I think that this article lets us augur of maids fortune-tellers.Wink Courage Brian, courage because he arranges two excellent programs, he does not miss to him more than.... THE medal which goes with and for that

Big 'thank you' to Joanna for the translation.

I think what is important in the information of that article is that Brian is saying that, while he is setting his sights to win gold at NHK, if it doesn't happen as he would wish, he's not going to worry about it since his main goal is to peak at the Olympics. I think that's the right attitude for him to have right now, albeit he is suggesting that winning gold at NHK may not be an achievable thing for him this year. I would think that as long as he feels he is steadily improving, fine tuning both programs, and that the retooling of the programs with Albena and Maxim has worked, that he will be okay with it if he does not get gold at NHK. In other words, he won't let a failure to win gold erode the confidence he is rebuilding in his mind. That is what is vital, now.

I think it's fair to assume that if Brian isn't the golden boy at NHK the anti-Brian crowd at the various skating message boards around the Internet will shout even louder about what a loser they perceive him to be. Let 'em, LOL. If it makes them that happy who are any of us to derail their "fun". We hope we (the Brian fans) have the last laugh at the Winter Games. Wink LOL

Mary, I think as you concerning Brian! It is going to do his best, two clean programs, if it wins my faith it is one more for the continuation.
I would support Brian although he arrives and up to the end, lol!
Mary ,je pense comme toi concernant Brian ! Il va faire de son mieux ,deux programmes propres ,s'il gagne ma foi c'est un plus pour la suite .
Je soutiendrais Brian quoiqu'il arrive et jusqu'au bout ,lol!

Houhou Joanna !

Here it is Gis

Brian Joubert : "I know where I'm going"

Before the Japanese GP, the European champion comes back on his mixed beginning of the season.

Japan is a country you especially like because you became World champion there in 2007.

It's true. Actually I have good memories. I've ne ver won the Japanese GP. So it's quite motivating. However my goal is to make a good performance. I'm not talking about marks or place but about sensations. I want to skate two good programs. I worked a lot for that. Then I'd be very happy to win this GP and so I could qualify for the final.

How do you consider the beginning of the season?

It’s quite ambiguous. Talking about performances, the results are not good (2nd at Masters, 4th at TEB). But I have good sensations. I feel that I have two good programs. If I refer to year 2007 when I won everything, I don’t want to redo the same year. It was hard from December on. I compare this beginning to the one in 2004. The results were similar and I grew strong month after month. I feel like going back to this basis. That’s what I'm looking for considering OG, the main goal of the season.

You seem self-confident. But do you understand people who voice their doubts after your difficult season beginning?

It's logical because I don't show yet all my potential. Let's note that I changed my working method. First I worked more on the choreography and I forgot the technique a little before working it again lately. I understand people are wondering. It's up to me to answer by making good performances on the ice.

Do you feel revengeful regarding these negative comments?

Of course I hear things that I dislike very much. These comments come mostly from the French skating world. TV consultants, judges, coaches... But it's motivating. I focus on my work above all. It's useless to get annoyed or to tackle too many things at once. My main goal is to be strong on the ice. In regard to that I know where I'm going.

What did you learn from your 4th place at TEB?

After TEB, I stopped four days. I needed it because I was physically exhausted. We worked a lot before. Then Albena and Maxim came. We modified the programs in order to make them easier. I worked on them both everyday. Technically I feel good.

You must skate two clean programs to make all this work worth?
Inside, I know we work well. But it's obvious that two good performances and two clean programs would be good for me.
