Quote:
McDonalds is his only major sponsor.

It is not 1995 or 2000-golden years of north American figure skating-anymore.

Elvis Stojko would have got a lot of money and sponsors.

According to this article,Michael Weiss has received $505,000 in 2003.

But now,It is in recession, you know.Even 'visible sports' like soccer also lost sponsers.

Even in recession,Japanese TV stations put in millions to ISU and Japan federation.
I think Japanese skaters's treatments are more better.

In Japanese custom, athlete is employed as a contracted employee of sponsor company.
For example,Miki Ando and Takahiko Kozuka are hired by TOYOTA.

Really nice interview of Brian: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120120&content_id=26409230&vkey=ice_news

Quote:
Joubert and Guyon worked on the order of the jumps, too, so as to get maximum "bonus" jumps.

Maybe finally they start to understand the system? Wink

Thanks Snow_Queen! Very Happy
It's nice to hear that Brian is hungry of the competition! That bodes really well for him at the Euros! lol!

Thank you Bladette! thanks
I'm counting that Brian will be in very good form and show a lot of great figure skating in Sheffield, I'm waiting for that! Very Happy

Principally, I want to blow the whistle on this sentence:

Quote:
Next year we will work otherwise.

That might mean that this season won't be last in Brian's career! crazy

It's great that Brian and Veronique scheduled more jumps in the second part of his free programme.
I think that's necessary for the current judging system, really good tactics to fight for high places during the most important competitions.

I was really happy to see that Brian (helped by Jean-Christophe Berlot, no doubt) made a point of discussing the various changes that have been made to make The Matrix more CoP-friendly:
Quote:
Still, he and his coach, Véronique Guyon, made significant changes to the program to adapt it to the current judging system.

"The step sequences were so simple in 2004!" Joubert said. "They were undoubtedly more spectacular, as they showed our personality far more. Yet they were much simpler. The same can be said from spins, actually."

Joubert and Guyon worked on the order of the jumps, too, so as to get maximum "bonus" jumps.

"We had three, now I have five -- basically all triple jumps [except the Axel] are scheduled in the second part," he explained.

Sounds like a different program in many ways, and it's important for him to be pointing it out. I wonder if he's made all the changes with Veronique Guyon or whether they involved David Wilson, too.

And I hope everything will go well, of course!

I'm also happy because these changes might help Brian to achieve really very good results on the competitions and even fight for winnings! Brian must improve his "Matrix" to be a an equal rival for Chan, Plushenko, Takahashi etc.

Me too as always, Brian really might skate two good programmes on the competition! Very Happy
This is sport, always beautiful and unforeseen!

i loved reading the interviews. i just read last night , also posted somewhere here on the forum an interview with johhny weir who was somewhat saying that the new rules take away from the beauty of the sport. and now i read brian saying something similar "The step sequences were so simple in 2004!""They were undoubtedly more spectacular, as they showed our personality far more."
i must say i agree with these boys.
