The text is nice indeed, but I hope some French lady will be able to translate it because I don't trust Google translator at all, there are always some mistake there.

Agree Laughing

I speak some french and I think that this time the translation is pretty ok (the text is not so difficult to translate), as for it's comprehensible, but I still think one of our french ladies should take a look at it, because any mistake would be inappropriate. Generally I like this idea and text Wink

I also love your text Sunny, it's beautiful! Both poetic and supporting, and I think that
Brian is gonna be very positivly affected!! :-D

My french is unfortunately not so good either, have forgotten to
much since school ;-), so I can't help with the translation, but there must be someone
here that can fix it!

Just a suggestion for the text on the card:

The text sounds really nice in English. Maybe we could only translate the last two sentences. Since they're actual sentences (whereas the first bit is more of a poem), it might be easier to translate. My French, however, unfortunately is much too limited for this... I mean, I can read some French and to me it sounds like good French, but that's probably because I am biased because I first read the English. We really need someone who's a native speaker to judge on this, because even thought it might be grammatical that does not mean all collocations are right and might to a French person still seem really odd (not the impression we want to give, Brian, right, ladies?).

Is there anyone from the moderators who would like to organize the project? I would really like to do it again, but I'm way over my head with work of my final thesis.

The idea sounds good Roosje, don't know how the one sentence is going to work for me Very Happy

Well, the message by Sunny already says a lot. So we don't really need to add that much more. So maybe we should all just do a little shout out with our names underneath. Something along the lines of (this is just an idea yet, not the final version for me!):

You rock my world, Brian!

Love, Roselien from Holland.

And about the time schedule: are we still agreed that we will send it to him for World's...we don't even know if he's going yet! I sense a problem here...

Oh, one more thing.

It's love FOR someone, not TO someone of course....so that needs a little rewrite (sorry, Sunny, I majored in English Language and Culture and old habits die hard).

Dear Brian,

No storm too wild
no mountain too high
no water too deep
no distance too far
no errors too heavy

I agree with the idea to present the poetic part in English and place the last two lines in French if the poesy part won't translate well into French. Also, I suggest an adjustment in punctuation to this line:
Quote:
Just remember: we will always be there to support you - in good and in bad times!

Replace the colon, after "remember," with a dash like that which appears later in the sentence. So it would appear as...."Just remember - we will always be there to support you - in good and in bad times."
Since we want to convey that we will support Brian, always, setting that part of the sentence off by itself is accomplished much more effectively in my version of the punctuation, the colon doesn't accomplish that same feeling.

Hehe Roosje! You can easily edit your post if you have more then one message Razz

I think it would be better to keep the message in English! And the final version in your post today is good enough for me!

That would surely be fun to read for Brian! If there's space enough in the card ;-)

I support the text with small corrections by Roosje, and why not keep it in english?

That is totally ok with me - english isn´t my first language so I am totally ok with your correction! I am only glad that you all like the text so much.
