No, Tomas also messed things up, he's just behind Brian. It's heartbreaking event.

I think for me - I haven't yet fully realised what happened. I keep talking to my mom, to my friend so as not to think about Brian and how's he feeling right now.
I just know that he can't give up now - he's Brian f****** Joubert and tomorrow he must prove it!!!!

Weird but VERY good, he has a fighting chance, the fates are with us!!!!!!!

I FIRMLY BELIEVE, AND GO AHEAD AND QUOTE ME ON THIS I BELEIVE THAT BRIAN IS GOING TO COME BACK GUNS A BLAZING AND ROCK THE ARENA WITH THE MOST KICK TUSH LONG PROGRAM OF THE NIGHT AND WIN A MEDAL!!!! Look with Cop there have been plenty of times where people have come back from greater deficets to win the event. I believe that Brian can do it!!!!

Krista, I just love you for this quote! Brian f****** Joubert... LOL. He is, he definitely is.

I just feel so confused. Not even heartbroken, but it is just so ridiculous. Like... so surreal. This is not true. No. Its not happenning to him and its not happening to us. THIS CANT BE REAL.

But well. It is real. He... messed it up. He is 18th. My God. This is uber my worst nightmare.

Now there is only one thing to hope: that he will show on Thursday what he is made of, that he is a fighter.

I know there will be lots of critical comments about him now. What he should have done different, where he made the mistakes. So I just want to make clear. This guy is three time European-champion and one time World champion. Placed on podium in each his Europeans and havent missed the podium on the last four worlds. He will not be an Olympic champion (would love to say: not yet), but he is still an amazing athlete and an amazing skater. Im sure it hurts right now so much. Maybe it wasnt meant to be. Olympics are just in four years and figure skaters have only one chance. This is a cruel sport. He just has to fight. Its not the medals, but the fighting spirit that makes you a champion.

And believe me that I feel terribly awful that I had to see how Brians dream gets buried. This feels horrible. I dont know where he will find strenght now but he has to find it. There is simply no other way.

Oh God ...
I didn't make it out of bed tonight, I guess I just switched off my alarm without really waking up. So of course the first thing I did this morning was looking up the results ...
OMG
I don't know what to say ...
You're so right, Titi, it is a cruel sport, especially when it comes to the olympic games where you have one shot, one chance every four years. I really hope that Brian finds a way for himself to put himself back together again for a fantastic LP. It won't make him an olympic champion having a gold medal but it would make him one of the real olympic champions that don't have a medal but who touched peoples hearts by simpling fighting and truely living the olympic spirit.

Wow ... I still can't believe this. I'll try and watch it some time tonight ... if I can stand it ... Crying or Very sad

Poor Brian. He did it to himself. Why must he doubt himsel so? No I get why Frank Carrol keeps telling Evan how he is the best in the world - it is working.

Managed a couple of hours sleep and got up dizzy and just in time to catch Brian's SP on the Eurosport replay. Looking at his face before he started I could see he was more than nervous - he was petrified. White and a sheet and shaking his head even before he's started. Throught the program he was noticeably slow. Maybe not in absolute terms but in Brian speed, that was slow, and probably why he couldn't make the jumps. It's a miracle he landed the axle... Remember he was slow at Euros LP, as well? That seems to come from nerves and it affects not just the jumps, but the PCS as well.

Well, that's all water under the bridge. Yes, he can come back from 18th. I BELIEVE he will. He's got nothing to lose, nothing to be afraid of now. I hope he can collect himself, come out with all guns blazing, nail those quads and axles and everything else. I want him to skate like he did in Goeteburg, like a champion. And let the chips fall where they may.

There's too much ground to cover for him to get on the podium - he's got to make up 16 points on Stephane, and I don't see that happening, not if Stepahne skates like he did in Tallinn, and why wouldn't he. I don't think Plushy or Evan will bomb, though they can make mistakes. I am expecting both Japanese to falter, as they tend to do on big occasions, leaving the podium to Plushy, Evan and Stephane. I think even the best case scenario is for Brian to pull up to his 6th from Turin. Mathwise, I just can't see him do better, and he will have to be abslutely perfect for that. I hope he will.

I doubt he got any sleep tonight. Can we send some lullbies his way?

I got out of bed my father told me right away what happend he had seen the program this morning... I didn't even had time to wake up next thing I know I'm watching the program and reading the comments here. Even the commentators needed time to realize what happend.. Merde!

Brian didn't even know how to react it was like he was in some sort of trance...

Well, he got a -3 GoE for the qaud, that almost -5, plus he didn't have a second jump on the combo, so another -1.3 from his Euros score.
The Lutz was not only a fall but a downgrade as well, so he got under 1 point for it and then a -1 for the fall. I tallinn he got a +1.8 on his Lutz, so that is -8 from his Euros score.

So for TES we get a total of -14 off his Euros score for the mistakes. 15 really, cause there he had a + on his combo. In fact he got 16 points lower - so maybe a little more harsh.

And like in Tallinn, when he was slower and not sold the program, his PCS dropped. That is natural.
Plus there's the Inmann factor - he got a full point less on TR and almosta point of CH.

I would have had him a couple of points higher, but that wouldn't make much of a difference.

I'm so sorry for Brian and for his lost dream Sad Crying or Very sad pleures
I couldn't believe my eyes during the SP. In my opinion Brian was his own enemy because he couldn't beat his fears and nerves. He should have beaten his own doubts not the others.
If I were him after the Olympics I would search new targets as a coach.
