I understood that he might seem arrogant, but I might be wrong.

I so hope this isn't true... If this is true...O gosh, his personal problems must be so bad. I feel so sorry for him.
I refuse to believe it untill I have had definite confirmation!

Titi, this article is strange, it takes back information but Brian has never said that he left for the free even if it is not obvious for him!
Annick Dumont declared that Brian crossed all his jumps even the quad in trainings (as usual besides) on France3 yesterday evening!

If it would have been official then it should be posted on the official olympic vancouver 2010 website

I only found this from yesterday:

Figure Skating: Joubert blames private problems for his performance

Feb 17, 2010

Vancouver (AFP) - Former world champion Brian Joubert on Wednesday blamed problems in his private life for his performance in the men's figure skating short programme in Vancouver. Touted as among the gold medal favourites to challenge the likes of defending champion Yevgeny Plushenko, the 2007 world champion fell during his routine and is now out of the medals in 18th ahead of the free skating.

"My problems come from outside the ice rink, from my personal life. I lost a lot of energy outside the ice rink," explained the 25-year-old.
"I have to change some things in my attitude. The last two years, my attitude hasn't been the way it should be."
"I'm not the same person any more. I'm not myself."
"I knew that (things weren't the way they should be) but I didn't react accordingly. I know what I have to do but it is not easy. It wasn't a good moment (to realise what was wrong)."

And the three-time European champion said he was reconsidering his future.

"Figure skating is, alongside my family obviously, the most important thing in my life," he said.
"I've committed myself to 2012 (world championships in France). I want to win the Cup of China so that I've won all of them (Grand Prix).
"I want to end my career on a high note, with another world championship title and a European title."
The three-time Olympian added: "It's another disappointment at the Olympic Games. These Games have beat me."

I don't think Brian has withrawn from the Olys, he said that he would skate in the LP and fight till the end! I can't picture Brian giving up like that.

First off, I don't think Brian intends to withdraw since there are reports at FSU, this morning, that he was on the ice for practice. If he intended to withdraw he would not be out there, practicing. Instead he would be packing his bags and leaving. Now, what shape he'll be in the for comp tonight is anybody's guess.

As to the articles, and particularly the Eurosport one where Gailhauget comes off sounding like the a$$hole he is, so...he doesn't think Brian's worked hard enough? Excuse me! How the hell is he supposed to focus and train when he's under impossible conditions off the ice and, add to that, the unexpected injury to his foot which required surgery and a period of recuperation when he should have been training. Any lesser man would have hung up his skates long ago, but not Brian!

Gailhaguet and the French Fed are pissed off to the max. The question I have is....why? Also, why the devil would the French Fed be so stupid as to pin all their hopes on Brian when there is additional talent out there? The smart thing would be to have a back up in case their primary skater (Brian) didn't work out for some reason. Gailhauget can bitch and whine and throw demands around like lightening bolts all he wants but he has to take some of the blame on himself. Unfortunately he's too much of an egoist to do that and, instead, lashes out with words, like "humiliation," aiming them at Brian. The only thing humiliating about any of this is that Gailhaguet has made such a mega-a$$ out of himself and that he's the head of the FFSG.

What's with this bit about Brian refusing to work with Orser and Browning? Don't I seem to recall that both of those Canadian dudes said they weren't interested in working with Brian? They were more interested in working with the skaters already in their stable, and for that I can't really blame them. However, for Didier Gailhauget to insinuate that it's all Brian's fault because he didn't wish to leave Poiters is hitting below the belt (although I'm not all that surprised he would say that.....just shows you what kind of guy he really is). (Speculation, only: Whatever kind of "deal" Gailhaguet and the French Fed had cooked up for the Vancouver Olympics got blown all to pieces when Brian imploded during the SP, and DG is punishing Brian, now, for failing to deliver an Olympic medal. BTW, this is the only thing, at this point, which makes sense regarding DG's actions over the last couple of days).

Tonight, I just want Brian to go out there and skate for us, the fans, and himself, and to Hell with the Olympics.

Mary C.

http://fr.canoe.ca/sports/vancouver2010/nouvelles/archives/2010/02/20100218-141805.html

can someone please translate the following from this interview;
«Ce sont les Canadiens qui l’ont créé pour favoriser les Nord-Américains en vue de Vancouver. Il faut savoir que leurs patineurs, souvent homosexuels, sont spécialisés dans le patinage efféminé», a déclaré Joubert à un quotidien français.

«Pourtant, on peut être à la fois homo et patiner viril. Mais non, eux font des manières, ça devient infernal», a-t-il ensuite ajouté.
