aaah I see, Thank you Oana for helping out!

Thank you Hoja, Alex! Izadora such a nice suprise!

I wonder how many men skaters are going to try a quad! Chan and Evan are both out, who's next? I still think it's weird. They are all skating at top level and now when the Olympics have arrived were top skaters over the whole world have to battle against each other they decide to leave out the quad...I know that they would like to minimize the risk of an injury but still.. Allez...

Thanks Alex and Gis

Joubert’s triple axel is his weak link, and he must focus to keep it in line.

I think that this is the second time that I read this confused I don't think it's true does anyone of you think that? Lambiel is the one who has troubles with the axel not Brian??

Quote :
One thing Joubert needs to stop doing is showing how disappointed he is after a bad skate. Skating around circles with a down attitude after the performance still affects the energy of the judges. Head up, Joubert!

True! Brian keep smiling!

Gis voilà les traductions, j'ai traduit les 4 vidéos:
Gis here are the translations, I did the 4 videos:

http://www.mairie-poitiers.fr/rubriques/actualites/actualites-2.0-605-sport--Brian_Joubert_aux_Jeux_Olympiques___1ere_epreuve_aujourd_hui.html

Short Program (interview recorded in Poitiers on 10th Feb. 2010)

Brian: “Emotionally the short program is the hardest because we don't have the right to make any mistakes. In fact you can't win a competition with an SP only but you can lose it all if you fail it. The purpose of this program is to help you position yourself in order to win the whole competition.”

What about positioning?

Brian: “I don't know, it's always nice to be in second place very close to the first as we have less pressure, but it's still always nice to be first after the short with 10 or 15 points advance, I know it won't happen at Olys but it's the ideal situation since we are more relaxed going into the free. I don't want to talk about strategies, what I need is to do the job regardless of my adversaries' performances. I'm not superstitious, superstition clouds my mind and I want to be relaxed. I try talking to a few people like my choreographer or my coach and I try not to think too much about the competition. One thing that is very important to me is to be able to see where my mother is seated in the arena.”

Preparation the day before the competition

Journalist: “You said Olys don't haunt you but you still think about them every day. What's the difference?”

Brian: “I think about it every day because it's the only title I'm missing and I'd love to win it. I think about it every day most of all to be as prepared as possible, to avoid having regrets later. So Olys are in my mind with regards to work, lifestyle.”

The day before:

Brian:”I will train, work, find my bearings, I think I will stay at a chalet with my mother and some friends, I don't want to stay at olympic village”

Journalist: “Is that your choice?”

Brian: “Yes. I have already been at 2 olympics and I found the villages sad, it wasn't what I had expected, I was isolated with not much to do. Then I have to see when I'm there because maybe there will be complications if I'm not at the village”

Life of a “star”

Brian: “We all have our style, in my case I prefer performance, I prefer the athletic side, a skater like Stéphane Lambiel prefers artistry, he's more of an artist, on top of that we all have our personality and this is what makes the sport beautiful.”

Being a star abroad:

Brian: “With time you get used to it but in the beginning it's surprising. I receive letters from Venezuela, Peru, I ask myself “how can they know me there?”. It makes me happy and encourages me to go on and get better. Whilst in Japan people stop me in the street for an autograph and picture, in Poitiers this never happens.”

Journalist: “How do you live your relationship with people from your home town, Poitiers?”

Brian: ”Simply, normally, it's friendly, convivial, the fact is I don't feel like I am a star that is why I stay in Poitiers, because people treat me like a normal person, and I am just a normal person. This makes me happy”

The start of a passion

Brian: “Hello everybody, I am Brian Joubert, I count on you to support me during the olympics, I will give it 100% and try to win this medal”

Brian: “I discovered skating through my sisters who are 9 and 11 years older than me and who both skated. I was taken to this arena ever since I was a baby. That's how it started. At the beginning though I wanted to play hockey. I was first noticed as a figure skater when I did my first competition, I was 5 years old and whilst skating I forgot my program and moves so I improvised, a coach noticed that and thought it was worth pushing me. I liked most of all the speed, play, and afterwards you learn jumping, that is when I really got into this sport.”

Training:

Brian: “It was much more difficult in the past when I had to go training at 6.30 am before going to college. It wasn't always nice but when you love doing what you do, it's part of the game, it's a passion, so you do it happily. I almost went to Bordeaux at one point but I was rejected there, they thought I wasn't good enough. I had propositions from Paris but I don't like big cities. I feel good in Poitiers and it helps me to be level-headed, I live 3 minutes away from the ice rink so I don't waste energy in the traffic”

awww! love how he wants to know where his mom is sitting during the competition! I love you

Manon, when Brian's axel is mentioned as his weakest element, they are taking note of the fact that it is not Brian's best jump. It's a little iffy sometimes, not always as strong of technique as his other jumps, but he always seems to manage to land it fine under pressure, has good consistency, etc.
