I think some of you surely know something about that: I would like to know, what kind of position has a coach of a top skater.

Does the skater himself pay a salary to the coach?
How about paying expenses of competitions (flights, hotels...) Is it skater, who pays also costs of his/her coach?
Does the skater pay part of him prize money to the coach? (maybe not - Guyon & Brian disagreement in 2005)
I've also thought, how much the best skaters earn from skating, galas and sponsors... Surely enough, that money worries are not..?

Thanks, if somebody likes to clarify these things me!

I cannot speak for Brian or any other skater, but as I remember from Neil Wilson's competitive days in Belfast....NISA paid for Neil to go to a competiion but his parents had to pay for his coach(es) to accompany him - obviously they didn't get to many of his international competitions themselves as they were not rich, I only remember them at Euros 1997 in Paris - their economy flights were so delayed they missed the warm up for his s/p, but were there for the actual programme!!

Every skater - coach will have their own arrangement, some will pay a per hour fee, others a percentage of earnings, some maybe a mixture of both.
