I have to agree with Kiki---the US team is doing incredibly well and hopefully will make it to the final 16. It's probably too much to hope that the US might make it to the last two. Many of the US commentators expect them to make it to that fourth position but farther than that is anyone's guess.

Congrats to the US, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Germany, Ghana, England, and Japan!
Also, deep condolences to the french... didn't exactly turn out anywhere near well...

On a more cheerful note, Switzerland is playing tomorrow against Honduras!!! I wish them the best of luck, it would be wonderful if they manage to move on from the group stage. Somewhat unlikely, but given what we've seen this World Cup, anything is possible.

I don't watch any soccer, I 'm just no interesting at it. I didn't even saw my country (and it's over for us) but congrats to the countries who made it to the final 16. I just wanted to share an article I found for french team because they reffered to Brian.

Yesterday was so amazing! I loved the way Slovakia played and loved the way how everybody cheered on them!!! It was so hard to concentrate on writing after this thrilling game!

We celebrated it in the right way yesterday night, LOL :lach:

But I had to get up early because in the morning I was interviewed by the British BBC radio - it was just a two-minute interview but I was a bit stressed, still, its a difference to talk with people in English at a skating competition and to be on air on BBC, LOL. But it was exciting and I had my adrenaline for the next few hours :lach:

So far I love this World Cup. The first round was a bit boring but now it has it all: excitement, drama, nice goals, nice saves, huge surprises... Im impressed by the U. S. team. I saw them last year in Bratislava at a friendly game and found Bob Bradley so cool, he seems to be a great guy! How they manage to grab the last chance is amazing!

I wonder how tonight Spain will do....

As for the "Brian Joubert-syndrome" - it is so totally unfair!!! No At first, France managed to finish last in their group also in 2002 (as reigning champions!!!) and Brian was nowhere back then, only the diehard skating fans knew his name. So, please, lets call it some other way, it is not a "Joubert syndrome" at all!

What ”Joubert syndrome” should really stand for is getting right up after a punch in your face, so it would be great for the French football team to be contaged Rolling Eyes I used to be a big supporter of the French team, so i hope it won't take so long for them to recover. Right now, the team i frantically support is Spain, and in spite of their not so good start, i hope they'll win their group, play much better in their upcoming matches and why not win the title manga38

Titi, congrats on your BBC interview! Wink

The "Brian Joubert Syndrome"?!!! Now, that's really hitting below the belt. grrrrrrrrrmur Can't these "supposedly" well-versed commentators, reporters, or whoever they are come up with a better description that that one. That just disgusting!

Totally agree. I was shocked when I read the article. Some french reporters are really harsh with french athletes as I see in general. It must be really hard for Brian and for all the other athletes-teams who have some bad moments in their career. They should handle a difficult situation and press never makes it easier.

Congrats Titi for the interview at BBC cheers

Some French journalists are absolute morons, when the French sportsmen win they are Gods when they lose no etc or quelquonque syndrome are!
Overalls lost because they were seriously distrustful, of unit and they had an incompetent selector sees out in his functions further to the crushing defeat of 2008 (pourant the team is vice-World champion).

I'm so happy for Spain and Japan! Specially the blue samurais played very good with Denmark!!!

Uruguay is the first team qualified in the quarters!!! They won with 2-1 the game against S. Korea.

The US should not be ashamed or disappointed regarding their loss. That they made it to the final 16 is super! What other country's team could have done as well given they don't have a history for years and years of playing football/soccer? Yet, there they were up against countries that have a long-running history of competition in the sport. The US did itself proud, for sure! cheers

Wow, Germany crushed England 4-1. I don't think that the disallowed goal would have changed anything. England was terrible and should be ashamed of themselves (unlike the US guys who should be proud). Germany was fantastic!!

Vamos Argentina!! manga38
