According to news article from newspaper it was for the first success since 2005 Worlds.

Daisuke skated a great SP - I hope he hasn't peaked too early, Nice in March is still three months away!

In case anyone drops by during the holiday (Merry Christmas to all of you celebrating), Mao won the ladies' event. No 3A attempts. Suzuki won the FS and finished 2nd, while Kanako Murakami dropped to third.

Congratulations to all three medalists and especially to Mao! Danseuse01

I don't know if anyone is interesting but I show that there is russian nationals and plushenko is first after SP with 88.24. I saw that Brian had higher TES (43,...) while Plushenko 42,... but in PCS Plushenko got 45,94. I thought Brian and Evgeni are in the same category concerning the components but he got almost 8 points above Brian. I've read on facebook in ISU group that Tatiana Tarasova was less than impressed with the result. Does anyone know if he will compete at euros or worlds?

He got 9.11 point at 'Skating skill'.
Very too high,it is because of national competition.(In 2009-2010 national,he got 100 point at Russian national sp)
Arthur Gachinskiy also got very higher point than international competition.

@ Bublijojo - I saw part of Plushenko's SP; the video kept freezing. He was not in great form (though the 3A was lovely) and looked to me like his knees were still troubling him, or whatever other lingering injuries he has. I have no idea what he'll do re the rest of the season. I'm concerned that by pushing himself to compete, he'll do himself real damage, so while I admire his commitment and hard work, I hope he'll sit Euros out, at the very least.

As Selia noted, Russian Nats are marked on the high side. I don't know if they still have bonuses for quads, but the marks there will generally be high even for a national championships. French Nats tend to be more in line with international scoring - possibly a bit more, but not by much. You definitely can't compare scores between those two events.

My understanding was that Tarasova had issues primarily with the dance event, though I'm not sure what specifically set her off.

It really sounds like Plushenko is planning to compete at the Europeans:
Quote:
"I'm still on the way to my top form and there's plenty of work to do for it. I'm happy to win my ninth Russia title and now I will start my preparations for the European championships."

I am so tired of him! grrrrrrrrrmur I doubt he will win tough, but probably get a medal anyways. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the news! Very Happy
I'm not surprised that Plushenko will be at the Euros if he competed in the Russian Nationals.
I can't understand why he doesn't want to finish his career grrrrrrrrrmur especially that he has already won everything in this sport!
