I'm sorry, but as far as I know there's never been a broadcast. Some people are very quick with loading up private vids though Wink

I've seen the news all over the place, but nobody seems to know what led to this. Interestingly, the FFSG release from just two days ago had Brian listed for Nebelhorn. I can think of several reasons for him to have withdrawn:

1. An injury, though I assume something like that would have shown up in a news story. This would be the worst-case scenario, of course, so let's hope it's not the case or at least that there's nothing serious.
2. He feels unprepared and would rather not start the season with a poor showing at an int'l event, which would be worse than showing up at the Masters in so-so form. Getting clobbered by skaters such as Hanyu - who clearly is in good shape - and Brezina would do him no good at all.
3. He's had some negative reactions to the new SP and will try to re-work/change it. I like this option Very Happy.

Or, maybe he just doesn't feel like spending his b-day in Oberstdorf? Laughing

Let's hope for the best.

My guess is your reason 2, but if that's true, i'm really disappointed.
you know, at first there was the rumor: "joubert is coming to NHT", then the entry-list comes out: no Brian. So us fans thought: "ok, would have been too good to be true". next suddenly Brian is on the list - later than anyone else - and we are all yeahhhhhhh. it appears in newspaper articles and so on. And in the end, he withdraws a few days before the competition starts.

if he's injured, that's something else and i really (!) hope he's not. but if it's just a "i feel unprepared, Hanyu/Brezina might do better"-thing, i'm kinda pissed

I wouldn't be, but then I didn't buy tickets Very Happy.

Look, we all know that Brian often struggles early on, and considering last season ended late and he dealt with the knee injury in the off-season, he would have had even less prep time. Really, I'm not sure a September international was a good idea to begin with. It's one thing to shrug off a relatively weak performance at the Masters, quite another to go in front of international judges if you're not prepared. If Brian wants to be taken seriously as a contender, he can't allow himself to compete off-form; last season has probably done quite a bit of damage to his reputation, and he needs to make sure his debut for the coming season is a good one - for his own sake as well as for the way he's perceived by the judges.

FWIW, P/B dropped out of their senior B, too. Sometimes there are considerations we as fans just aren't aware of.

i agree with everything you've said. and i know that such an early competition was kind of new for Brian, and very surprising. But you know, i thought that if he really wanted to change his routine and start the season a little differently than usual, he should have had the guts to go through with it!
why sign up for it in the first place?

I'll go to a medieval market now with my friends - hope I can enjoy it, but I think it will distract my thoughts from this disappointment and my fear about Brian...I really hope he isn't injured. See you later, girls...maybe we will know more about the circumstances late in the evening; then I'm back here.

This is all speculation since we don't know the reason for the WD. But maybe he really did mean to go through with it, only his training/health/whatever didn't allow him to carry out this plan. We've seen it happen with plenty of skaters when it comes to smaller events such as senior Bs.

For those of you still going, I'm told Yuzuru Hanyu is definitely worth the price of admission! I like him quite a bit even without having seen him live, friend of mine who went to 2010 Junior Worlds was seriously impressed. I know he's not Brian, but I hope he and the other skaters will still make it an enjoyable competition for those of you who plan to attend.

This is sad for all board members attending, but I understand that this is a really good event & I hope you all enjoy it - despite the news.

If its an injury then I hope it is not serious - same as I hope for Thomas Verner & his back!
