welcome vida!

That Brian can hardly move at the moment doesn't sound too good - I'm wondering about TEB (which is only a couple of weeks away), let us hope for the best! This certainly shows how important proper warm-up is!

I never believed he would think of canceling Cup of China if it wasn't a serious injury. I just wish there'd be clearer information from the beginning. Is Brian the only skater who doesn't have a twitter account? Anyway, right now I feel bad for anyone who booked tickets to CoC just to see Brian.

Since his injury is so severe that he can't bend down, I think the fans should take that into account if they were planning on traveling to any competition/show just to see Brian. I still intend to get to Europeans but when I booked it, I asked myself if I would go even if he wasn't there. When I decided that I would, that's when I ordered tickets. It's good to be paranoid sometimes.

I don't know but I think Brian wants to protect his private life and it can be the main reason that he doesn't have a twitter account but not only, he also doesn't have account on Facebook (what a pity!).
It's problem because his fans know about his withdrawal from the competition too late and often they already have tickets. I don't have this problem because I always watch Brian's competition on TV.

welcome Vida!

I did that with TEB last year; it's important to be sure of your decision in that regard. And what can I say, Aliona and Robin were fabulous, Kozuka was great, and Paris is beautiful any time, and even more so all decorated for the holidays! Very Happy

Lots of skaters don't have twitter, or don't use it often. There seems to be an ongoing effort by several Detroit-based skaters to get Czisny on twitter. No luck so far, AFAIK. The information about the injury still got out in a timely manner, so I don't see how having a twitter would have made any difference: it happened on Thursday, so I imagine he spent Friday getting the injury checked out. Then there were reports online by Saturday, followed by the WD and multiple updates in the French media. Plus the interview Brian did with the local news. Seems pretty informative to me.

As for twitter, I think it is better to be like Brian and not have it, than like some other skaters (I am not gonna say names) that twit everything to the whole wide world, lol.
As for the injury there was a lot of info this time, I think. I am wondering if he is gonna recover by TEB, I know a few people who are going there to see him. Of course, if he withdraws there is still Patrick to see. Very Happy Overall, there are nice skaters competing this year there, so it is still worth going, IMHO

TX for the welcome girls I love you

I guess I'm so used to reading Brian Boitano's tweets about sandwiches and Philippe talking about the french Dancing with the Stars and Evgeni's birthday retweets that it seems so odd to me. You guys are right. It's best that he doesn't have one. Cool

Patrick Chan's tweets are unintentionally hilarious, btw. I suggest subscribing if you don't already. Just for the laughs.

The reason why I would like Brian to have a Twitter or Facebook account is that when he retires the press stops making reports of him and then we don't hear anything from him anymore. Even a simple tweet "I am coaching today" would make my day then.

Brian is pretty private, I don't think he would publicise everyday life details...

Thank you very much Sheena thanks
I'm happy for Carolina Kostner! Very Happy
Valentina Marchei skated much better than during the Skate America and Pernelle/Lloyd still have chances to be on the podium!

When I was watching men's short program on Eurosport yesterday, Polish commentator said that if Brian skated in this competition, he would lost with Gachinski and Hanyu.
I think he didn't have reason, Brian couldn't start in the Cup of China after all and compete with his rivals! Such words are simply inadmissible!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Our commentators just said that Kevin Reynolds is going for a Quad Loop. This one hasn't been done in competition either.
And for 3 quads in total!!!
Good luck! Smile

Well, if it couldn't be Brian, at least CoC was won by a great skater! So pleased for Jeremy Abbott, a lovely skater who needed a win very badly at this point in his career. And I must say, I am also pleased Gachinski did not medal, he still has a lot of work to do on the presentation side and the scores he's been getting were becoming a bit confused.

I'm sad that Yuzuru Hanyu still hasn't won a GP medal, though...

All credit to Reynolds for trying the 4R, even though it didn't work (this time?).

ITA with everything!
Love Abbott's and Hanyu's programs. I also love the music choices, some of my fav songs (Muse: Exogenesis 3; R&J: Kissing you) and also their costumes!

I loved Jerremy and Song, unbelievable! Sorry that Hanyu didn't medal and kind of fell apart at the second half of the program. I wish him all the best Very Happy
And yes, I am happy Gachinskiy missed the podium - he is being overscored, and I think in the Cup of Russia he will be given all the possible favors

The kind of sad thing is that considering the level of skating at CoC, Brian could certainly have won if he'd skated decently. But there's no guarantee that would have happened even without the injury...

I was thrilled to see Carolina Kostner skate well and earn another GP win. Good for her - suddenly she's one of the most consistent skaters around! I think she's had no off-the-podium finish since 2010 Worlds - how many skaters can match that, having skated a full season and not just select competitions? Not many in singles, that's for sure. And this despite being injured last season!

I'm surprised because of Gachinski's free program, he skated under his possibilities and bravo for the judges for good estimate of this program! Kavaguti/Smirnov deserved on their 1st place.
