I'm not sure why they bother to have ice dance and men's these days. Just give D/W and Chan their medals for showing up and call it a day. Rolling Eyes

I haven't watched pairs yet, but I don't really like any of the GPF competitors' SPs save for K/S's, so I think I'll just skip the SPs and hope for a kickass LP from S/S.

The ladies' SPs were quite enjoyable, and Carolina was wonderful! I'm sure it was especially difficult for the ladies considering the sad news about Mao's mother; I understand that not all of them knew that she'd passed away, but of course they knew why Mao had flown home. Someone on GS pointed out that Liza lost her father earlier this year, and that hearing about Mao's mother might have affected her more than the other skaters.

Yes, Carolina was great, she skated beautiful program and has a big chances to win! Very Happy
Pity that Liza had some mistakes in her short program Crying or Very sad
I had a bad dream earlier that she jumped only single Lutz.

I didn't know that Liza lost his father, it had to be a terrible survival for so young girl Sad

PostSubject: Re: GPF 2011   11.12.11 15:15

Thanks Kasia for the results! Very Happy
I'm happy for Carolina Kostner and I'm not surprised because of Chan's victory who has a big support among the judges.
In my opinion Chan didn't deserve to win after such two programs, what a pity that the judges don't want and can't see that! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I'm sure if Brian would skate with such mistakes like Chan, judges wouldn't let him to win.
Chan always gets many points for his programs and it makes that he thinks: "I'm the best".
This is just an enormous merit of the judges and not some great skating of Chan.
That also makes that other skaters are disadvantaged and frustrated, I saw it at Daisuke Takahashi's face yesterday.
I can't understand how these judges can be so one-sided and unfair!!! grrrrrrrrrmur
The figure skating that not just the components, technical elements are also important and Chan is winning just thanks these components.
I'm already bored because when Chan competes, it's not difficult to anticipate his winning Mad so the big emotions have gone...
I'm happy that I won't see Chan at the European Championships!!! Inclassable37
I'm already sick of him!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I suspected the whole "V/M and D/W, BFFs" thing was too good to be true, and now Scott Moir has proven that is indeed the case. Check out his post-FD comments... interesting times ahead for the Canton teams!

Guess the kid gloves are off now!?

Hate to have to say it, but the leading Canadian skaters are sounding more & more arrogant........

Scott was always arrogant, but when you're at the top of your game, it comes across as confidence. When you're second... not so much.

That having been said, I agree with him that V/M deserve higher PCS than D/W, whom I consider about as overrated as Chan but not nearly as entertaining. At least PChiddy has funny falls and makes Shocked statements to amuse us.
