Okay, so this - also this - was kind of funny. I guess it does get dull writing these Patrick Chan Superstar articles, so a new angle was needed! (it's Brian-related, promise)

My favorite part: Patrick's mum forbidding him pizza because he'd had too many carbs. I think she's probably a lot more involved in his career than people realize.

OT, the second article starts off with Duhamel/Radford and their adventures at last year's Worlds. I still don't know how he was able to skate with a broken and bloody nose.

Oh those Chan articles! Evil or Very Mad Why do the Canadian press write about things that happened two years ago and especially when Brian never said anything towards Chan, he only talked about quads. And that Chan's attitude 'I would do it again' especially when Brian tries to be nice to him.

I think Chan meant he'd express his opinion about whatever pops up, not that he'd trash Brian again - he made it clear that he thinks well of him.

Agreed about the Canadian media - they always made it appear like they were both looking for an argument, when in fact it was more like Brian saying quads are important (which he always does!) and Chan going off on a tirade. I hope he's learned from past mistakes.

"Socca" - I've never heard this...Maybe I can taste it in Nice. If Brian recommends it, it must be fine! Very Happy
How nice from him... giving culinary tips to his rivals! lol!

Its such a relief to know that Patrick Chan was put on earth in order to save figure skating diable

These articles are annoying as we know the correct stories about Worlds 2008 & 2009, but most Canadians don't & are in danger of actually believing what they read...... irritated.

But now Brian is the wise elder who advises the next generation where to get great food... although if Chan gets food poisoning and skates poorly, someone will surely blame Brian! Laughing

If you want to read some truly nauseating coverage, try this article that's been discussed on FSU these last few days. Though I must say, it's not Patrick Chan's fault that the reporter is a moron.

I think the powers that be in North American figure skating are probably desperate for someone to club someone in the knee again to bring the sport back to its glory days. I wish I were kidding.

I hope those pancakes have something like wasabi on them. lol

Starting order for tomorrow. Considering Brian's world ranking, that is as good a draw as he could have hoped for.

I understand he's been looking nervous in training, though pale

I am sure he will be nervous... I just hope for a clean skate. If that's not going to happen, I won't be surprised. I have sort of mentally prepared myself hide8up

I have watched a lot of practice videos and many men are struggling with the quads. Especially Yuzuru Hanyu is struggling with most of his jumps. And he always falls so dramatically!

Quote :
Joubert: Take advantage of every minute...

Brian Joubert gave a jumping lesson this morning, hitting both his quad jumps in a completely relaxed way.

"You really have to take advantage of every minute here," he said afterward. "Having worlds in France is a rare opportunity. It does not feel like we are at a world championship, actually.

"We were talking about that yesterday with Alban [Préaubert, who ended his eligible career this year and is now commenting for Eurosport]: One week before the Trophée Eric Bompard, I usually feel tense and stressed. Usually it is much more stressful for me to skate at home. Here, it is just the opposite. That's quite amazing.

"Of course," he continued, "Things will get more tense as the actual competition approaches. But for now we need to take advantage of the time we have. And most of all ... not let any question or doubt come in."

Joubert has always been so sensitive to his own doubts.

"Plus, right now the feelings on the ice are great!" he said
