There are some practice videos of Brian available on youtube. This is one of them you can find the others on the right Smile

I actually thought that it was a flip, too! Then I saw the protocols and surprised! And now I re-watched and it is a flip! Wink

Isn't his flip always "downgraded" to lutz, he flutzes? So maybe he put lutz to the list and did a flip instead? Razz

Haha maybe yes Razz
I only took a look a the protocols because I wanted to check whether his flip got an "e" again, and then i see a lutz Razz
The funny thing is, the base value of the lutz is 6.00, whilst the flip only has 5.30. So normally his flip would have been downgraded to sth less than 5.30, but this time he received a 6.40 because in the judges' eyes he jumped a lutz!???
lol!

^yeah!! Cool I remember someone here suggested him to do it! And it worked!! Razz

One judge gave him a -2 and maybe he was a bit hmmm, wasn't that a flip? Because why would anyone otherwise give -2 for a perfect jump like that! Laughing

yes noticed that too Laughing
but shouldn't the JUDGES actually be capable of distinguishing a lutz from a flip? lol

Didn't have time to post but WOW!!! what a PERFORMANCE!!!!!!! He was soooooooooo great! I really didn't think he would hold his nerves. Before he starts he looked so nervous and I didn't have any big hopes but oh boy he nailed it! I've really missed that smile eros He was fast and the choeography looked pretty nice he skated like a superstar! whatever the outcome today I just want him to smile in the end of his performance Smile In general I Brezina was the best of the night and I think he should be first (wasn't surprised of caurse about Chan's place) and takahashi was amazing artistically and his step sequence wow! Sad about Tomas and Kevin though and many others who didn't give the program they wanted Crying or Very sad
so....

I read that he only tried triple sal at this morning's practices. So I guess he will just do a triple...

Great one manga38

John Kerr obviously thinks it would be a good performance to end your career with ...
"Awesome performance from Brian. Hit the quad and both axels. Might be a good performance to call it a career?"

I just hope Brian was happy and proud of his performance. Allez Brian!

It looks like between Brian's and Florent's scores, France will have 3 spots for men at World's next year.

This is something to celebrate even though they are not on the podium.

It's a personal best score for Brian - LP and total; his previous LP best had stood for more than five years, so it's pretty impressive that after such a rough season he was able to do this. But I agree, he was lowballed and deserved better; I wish he could have medalled...

I refuse to comment about Patrick Chan, but I am happy for Yuzuru Hanyu, who is a lovely skater. And I'm proud of Brian - He did well (top European!) and he was classy throughout. I think he'll have earned a lot of respect and good will based on what he did this weekend.

ETA: And I'm happy for Chafik, because it looks like he'll be going to Worlds next year Smile

Ok. My comment on the whole competition.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY for Brian! He was fabulous! It's a pity about the 4S but whatever he was back, he was as awesome as the the beginning of his career Very Happy I loved it!
I really enjoyed Florent, he was just having fun and cool, I liked it Smile
I'm happy for Kevin for having performed like that in his last (will it be his last? Wink) competition. As always I enjoyed Tomas Smile I'm sorry for Javier Sad He was just off today.
Daisuke was simply perfect, not one single mistake he made but his programme is just not my cup of tea. I don't like the music so I coundn't enjoy it to the full.
Chan was boring except when he fell which was funny Smile
And Yuzuru was soo funny when he was approaching the podium partly doing his LP routine Wink

But the general atmosphere was a bit awkward wasn't it? I mean the booing and shouting when Chan won. Obviously people boo when their skater doesn't get as many points as they would wish but rarely have |I seen the winner being booed. Also, people booed when the main judge and the technician approached the podium which was also unusual for me (though perfectly understandable Wink)

And it was funny when Gwendal interviewed Chan and translated what he said into English lol! BTW, how's Chan's French? Wink

All in all, the competition was extremely exciting. There are so many good skaters, it's amazing. Olys will be great Very Happy

I really don't think Chan is going to make it out of that building alive. lol

That was the best. Hanyu deserved that win. That ridiculous fall out of nowhere. Otherwise, I've never seen such powerhouse skating. He was attacking everything. The minute it happened I knew it was Chan's. It didn't matter what Daisuke did. I really hope those boos are noticed and people actually fight what we all have sadly come to accept as Chanflation. It's not fair to anyone. All the other nations should file a complaint with, I don't know, someone.

I really hope this means Brian will be on broadcast American TV. He hasn't been since Vancouver. When they show the Grand Prix they generally show the top 5 skaters. It will be on next week. We'll see. Smile

You know what they say. Misery loves company.

Nona wrote:

As I said on twitter, everyone on the podium fell in one of their programs. Brian did not. They need to make falls a bigger deduction.
