I don't know if any of you followed the drama with the Uzbeki team, but it was a very interesting story: like Misha Ge, they ran into visa problems, but unlike Ge, they were not approved until I think this morning (!). In Moscow. Then they missed their connection and were due to arrive in Nice at 18:30 with a skate time of 19:13. They were not in the rink in time to do the six minute warmup and there was much concern as to whether they would make it. Finally, at 19:01 (!!!), Misha Ge tweeted that they were at the rink in skates.

With all the uncertainty, no warmup, and very little time to prepare, Anna Nagornyuk (who's only 16) and Viktor Kovalenko set a new PB and have qualified for the short dance in their first Worlds together; here they are during their performance. I hope they'll get some press coverage because it sounds like they'll have quite a story to tell!

In other pretty impressive accomplishments, Australia's Gregory Merriman was dealing with skate problems toward the end of their qualifying FD, but they were able to complete the dance successfully and also set a new PB to qualify.

So well done to both teams, and to all the other qualifiers - and good luck to Sara and Adria who will skate in the final QR group! I hope they'll make it.

Gosh, that is quite a story - well done to them & they will never forget their first Worlds together!!

Sara & Adria qualified with a great score! I don't know if QR scores count for SB/PB record keeping but if they do, that's another new PB.

I am very pleased with today's qualifying and hope it's a sign of more good things to come at Worlds!

Guess that V&M have already won But Nathalie&Fabian are very close to Davies White, maybe it could be somehow possible for them to get the 2nd place? Who knows?

Dancers have been allowed to use vocals for years, personally I prefer non vocal music for skating......
