I am so pissed by the score that I'm not going to watch the rest of it. A wonderful, clean performance (only the doubled Lutz can be considered a mistake) and you lowball him with 76 PCS/ You've got to be kidding me!

Anyway, a great farewell for Brian. Skting will be so empty now.

PostSubject: Re: Mens SP& LP   14.02.14 17:48

I thought Brian would be second behind Ten after his skate (third on the free, though). It wasn't perfect or the most difficult base value, but I'm very disappointed that the judges did not see fit to reward the stronger aspects of the program. He deserved better. Still, I'm proud of Brian for fighting today and for ending his career with a good Olympic memory and a lot of support from the audience.

The level of the top men and the approach the judges are taking to some of the other skaters suggests that Brian is right to walk away now. It's been a great career and he did it on his terms. I'm sure he'll be in much demand as a show skater in the years to come.

Well done, Brian. You'll be missed by many skating fans.

p.s. having him behind the Czechs is blatantly unfair. They both made multiple and obvious mistakes.

Lonnie, I'm glad I'm not the only one who stopped watching after Brian's performance. It's not easy for me to comment on his score because of the bad stream quality (I have to watch it again later), but to tell the truth - the competition has no interest for me anymore.

At the very least, Brian should have been placed higher than Brezina with his multiple mistakes and third-rate program.

As I wrote earlier: he's right to walk away now. He knows he did well, he knows that for the judges it doesn't matter anymore. He more than made up for Vancouver and he got to go to the Olympics with his childhood coach. He can move on with his life and be proud of what he's accomplished.

Sounds like Brian was screwed?!? I didn't watch as I didn't want to jinx him but he has skated well again & should have his head held high.

So, well done Brian & thank you for the past 13 seasons - they have been memorable!

Good thing is that I can now watch/follow skating with a calm & indifferent attitude as I really don't mind who wins what - no more anxiety & stress!!

Like Yulie, I'm glad Brian is free of it all now.....

He was. He should be behind Ten and Yan overall but not the others.

Well, he was 13th in his first Olympics, looks like he'll be 13th in his last as well. And he's done so much in between...

That's pretty much me with the ladies - I like Kostner best but I appreciate so many of the others and don't actually dislike any of them. I really hope we'll have a Vancouver-level ladies competition and that the skating gods will make up for the pairs and men's.

I am definitely watching the rest of the competition, since it does not belong to the judges ( no matter how much they want that to be true ), it belongs to the skaters and to the people who love them and love the sport.

I am crying my eyes out in stages.... i seem to be able to stop and then i see a post on fb and start again.

Thank you so much to Mr Joubert and thank you so much to BJDG !!! I can't belive how many years have passed since i first joined this group when it wasn't even on this site. It's been such a wild ride and i have made many friends thanks to figure skating. I got to see live performances and some of you ladies in person.
