| i also loved the portret of dorian grey. and i just love oscar wilde , i think i would have liked to meet him , he seems so much fun. i actually read also some of his short stories. some of them are silly but still fun. the ghost of canterville was an exemple of silly but fun. the way the the american family deals with the presence of the ghost is hilarious. i was never able to read the russian writers because of some short stories i read when i was a child. they made me cry so much i just could not pick up another russian book. irina |

Titi, I also think that Lord of the Rings is a masterpiece!!! Tolkien was a genius!!! I've read Lord of the Rings for the first time some years ago (before anybody knew that there would be a movie). My father gave it to me, because he loves this book. It became my favourite book, immediately! And that hasn't changed yet and I guess it never will!
I also love the Harry Potter books. Reading them is so much fun. I'm impatiently waiting for last book!
I enjoy reading a lot, so there are many other books that I like. For example Illuminati and Sakrileg. And I also like Diana Gabaldon's books (Cross Stitch, etc.). |

| i know i am 26 and supposed to be all mature and all, but if jk kills harry i will be incredebly pissed. i also remembered i read 2 books by Simone de Beauvoire . one was called " the memories of a good girl " ( this is my translation ) and the other " the second sex ". i liked them both very much. the first one is autobigraphy and it is very interesting. and the second one is a research about women and how men saw women for centuries and why all those things were not true. it is really interesting. and i also read one book of sarte " nausea ". it a strange and very diferent book but i liked it a lot. especially one thing about " perfect moments " got stuck to my mind forever. kisses irina |

| Great thread, Titi :super: I recently read "Persuasion" by Jane Austen, and I loved it!! I also love the book version of "A Walk To Remember" by Nickolas Sparks. :love-love: (That's definetely one where the kleenex that Mary recommended would be required!) When I was really young, about 5-9 years old, I loved loved loved to read! When I went to check out of the library, the librarian would always look at me like "Why on earth would you get all of these books at one time??" LOL. But I'd read through them, and my mom always told me that I was reading a grade or 2 ahead of my level. Then, after about 12 years old or so, I never seemed to find any books that interested me, so I pretty much stopped reading almost entirely for several years. Now, that love has completely come back to me- I find myself spending 3-4 hours at the local Barnes and Noble bookstore. I find so much in that store that I want to read that sometimes my mind literally spins. I mostly like books on science, Christian fiction, journalling, scrapbooking, bookmaking, castles, French scenery and history , poetry , nature, etc etc etc .... I also recently read a great book called "Words in a French Life." It was fascinating! In it, Kristin Espinasse (the author) writes of her experiences in France, after she married a frenchman and moved to France. |

| Yes, that book has quite the plot! I was impressed with the development of the characters! Irina, Christian fiction is basically like any other fiction, with kind of a "stamp" on it as being "Christian". My favorite author in this category is definetely Diana Crawford! She wrote an amazing series of books that are now out of print, which terribly upsets me, as I only have the first one in the series and I read it over and over... I got the other books from the library, so at least I was able to read them. I'd love to own them, though! |

| My favourite writer is Isabelle Aliente and my fave book of hers is The House Of The Spirits. I've read it more than 10 times! I also like Lord of the rings though, I haven't completed the trilogy, yet. I'll start reading the Two Towers after I finish Oscar Wilde's De Profundis. Btw, thank you, Titi, for opening this thread! :Merci2: |

| Im sorry that i neglected this thread for a while! Thank you all for response! As for Wunthering Heights, well, i wasnt that impressed with it... I dont know why, maybe i was too young (and totally indifferent in love) when i read it. However, i adored Jane Eyre!!! I always wanted to read Potrait of Dorian Grey, but have never found it in the library. Btw, I also loved to read Stephen Kings fictions!!! |

| Great idea for a topic Titi! I love reading, so any recommendations for a great read are appreciated. Three books that are always on my top 3 list for "must reads" are The Da Vinci Code, I know this much is true by Wally Lamb, and The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve. They are all pretty deep books.. many of you have probably already read the Da Vinci code but the other two are complete tear-jerkers. Get some tissues as Mary C. said! lol |

Idem ! Pour ma part j'aime bien les Harry Potter, mais ma mère, elle, est tout à fait dingue de cette sèrie !
Me too! For what it's worth, I do like Harry Potter, but my mother is a fanatic!
I love mostly science fiction and fantasy, as I tend to write in these genres as well. In effect, if it has elves or space-ships in it, I'll read it! |
