Have you tried Amazon Kiki? (I'd be suprised if you haven't!)

I read so much, I could start my own book club - move over Oprah!

Alexander McCall Smith's books are excellent, he has a few different series:- the Professor von Igelfeld trio, the no 1 ladies detective agency (set in Botswana) & 2 different series set in Edinburgh, Scotland - I find them all very entertaining!

Another excellent book is "An Innocent Traitor" by Alison Weir - the story of Lady Jane Grey. Her story is very tragic (& even though I know it well) I could hardly read the last few chapters, due to the tears (of sadnesss) in my eyes!

Yeah , i know, it was totally different from what I imagined. But it was a good book, very good.I was secretly hoping that Miranda will end up loving Fred, but if it had been so, the book would have been something common

I'm reading Paul Auster's "Brooklyn Follies" and so far it is very good. This is the first novel of him I`m reading and I would definitely search for other titles.

in my holliday i have read a book of nick hornby's " a long way down ". i find his books very enterteining, very good for spare time.
i also read "high fidelity" and i saw "about a boy " the movie, made after a book he wrote. and i also read " fever pitch " which is a very funny and true look into the life of a football fan.
did anybody else read something of him or saw any of the movies????

Irina, I read "A long way down" too and I remember I enjoyed it as well. From what I heard, Johnny Depp bought film rights to this book so probably we're gonna see a movie in the future. I also read "About a boy" and "How to be good" and have to say that Hornby's writing style appeals to me.

the book i've just finished reading was "a farewell to arms" by ernest hemingway. must say, the ending was quite surprising (not in a good way...)
and now, i'm reading pushkin's shortstories. Smile

Irina, Fever Pitch is a must-read book for every devoted football fan! Ive recognized myself in it many times... For example, dying mid-season... It really must be a tragedy...

Two weeks ago I finished reading "The death spiral", the book, whom the main characters were figure skaters. That's a criminal of finnish writer Leena Lehtolainen and it's about the investigation in murder of young and very talented finnish skater. The book was quite interesting and had a unexpected end, IMO. There appeared some names of former and recent skaters, too Smile

I'm glad I read it during holidays cuz at the school year I have completely no time for reading anything aside from textbooks and some obligatory books Rolling Eyes

I think that you should look for it in your local bookstores. I bought my specimen that way without any problems. I'm also quite sure that it's easy available on the Internet Wink

I also have "The death spiral" it IS quite interesting! I couldn't agree more, if you find it, grab it, read it! If you find the time, do that in a bathtub, reading in a hot bubblebath is soo realxing!

I also started to read one of the new Avalon books... it seems to be good. I'll give you more details when I finished it!

i just finished reading a book but i don't know how to translate the title.
in original the title is " lunes de fiel " by pascal bruckner - maybe you could translate the title for me!!!
it is a weird book. i don't know if i like it or not. the writer bases his appeal on shocking the readers. and succeds, i got sucked into the book. but when the book ends, it just gives you the sensations you've been fooled.

Irina, Roman Polanski made a movie based upon the novel you mentioned - it was titled "Bitter moon" - not sure if it is exact translation of the book's title though study

You definetely have to - even though the first book is brilliant, the second one isn't any worse. Some of the texts just made me fall from the chair/bed and as most of women I find in Bridget a huge part of myself.
But you also should watch the movie - despite one, enormous advantage - which is presence of georgous Colin Firth - it's the best movie for all woman's worries, worse days and situations.

i thought the books were better then the movies. well at least the second book is defenitly better then the movie, plus in the movie they change some stuff.
but still very good choice to read when in need to feel good!!!

i just finished reading " on the chesil beach " by ian mcewan. it's a good book i think. and a sad one. it has a strange topic.
" They were young, educated, and both virgins on this, their wedding night, and they lived in a time when a conversation about sexual difficulties was plainly impossible."
this is how the book starts. it's sad how being unable to communicate can ruin your life forever.
