i know word "szukacz" (i'm not sure about spelling - but it should mean "look for"), but it's a bad word in Czech and Slovak then "co to?" (again - not sure about spelling - it should mean "what is that?") "pzroszu pana/pani" - like "you're welcome", "nic ne rozumie" - "i don't understand anything", "ne movie po-polski" - "i don't speak polish", "spadaj" - "go away"...
Correct me, please, who knows Polish - if I messed something up

Nastia, great!
there are some mistakes but in general you know many words.some people say that Poish is very hard language..it's not true(maybe for me )

look for- szukac
what is that?- co to jest?
I don't understand nothing- nic nie rozumiem
I don't speak polish- nie mowie po polsku
go away- idz sobie.. "spadaj" is more informal like "get lost"
you're welcome- prosze pana/pani

sir-pan
madam/lady-pani
man-mezczyzna
woman- kobieta
child-dziecko
uderstand-rozumiec

Yes, our languages are similiar ( Slavic languages )

Olga, as for the pronunciation, it's a bit difficult to explain, maybe Isabel will do it better than me.

But I found interesting page with some polish audio:
freepages.genealogy.roots...habet.html

Re: polish

don't you mean dziekuje Olga??

By the way, what would be the response to dziekuje in Polish? Here in America we normally say 'you're welcome'.

When I was a child I could speak Polish very fluently because so many of my neighbors were from Poland. But I never did really learn how to read it very well as I was just too young. I'm hoping some of these words will jog my memory.
