PostSubject: Bits 'n' Bobs   12.10.07 16:19

Just a thread for small items of general skating news of all sorts.....

A trio of bouncing baby boys to skating parents -

Sale & Peletier
Maxim Marinin & his better half
Elena Berezhnaya & Steven Cousins......all recently have had sons.

Obertas & Slavnov are missing at least the first half of this season, maybe all of it.

{There is an interview (in Russian) with Elena & Steven (he speaks in English!) - linked to it is a clip of Plushenko's (in)famous "Sexbomb" routine performed in Russia along with Elena & Irina Sluskaya, it is the funniest version I've seen of it (& I think its a pretty funny exhibition!!)}

Jamie Sale and David Pelletier's son is named Jesse Joe. The few pictures that have been released show that he's an adorable little boy.

what happened to them? I've been out of skating news for a while...

anyway, even they'll be able to compete at russian nationals, I don't think they can make the world team...

There is a thread about it on Goldenskate, as far as I can gather Julia has been skating on an injury - which has finally given up - & Sergei had some surgery. I think they physically need some recovery time & are uncertain how long it will take.

Above is a link to AS thread - the Swedish pair of Angelika Pylkina & Niklas Hogner are splitting, a bit of a shame, especially when Goteborg worlds are less than 5 months away.

Sorry the links are no longer working, if you click on 'Forum' (top left corner) & then 'The Edge' (top of menu) it will bring up a list of threads & you will find the relevant stories there!

Steph Lambiel had a total meltdown at Swiss Nationals this weekend silent . He won but....the performances he produced were way far from what he is capable of. He fell three times during LP:

the protocols are here: http://www.smelite08.ch/cmsimple/result/index.htm

PostSubject: Re: Bits 'n' Bobs   10.12.07 16:43

Thanks Malgosia!

I fear that Lambiel is having a crisis again this season - he is deliberately doing double axels while trying to fix his triple (the new technique apparently is not working out) & here he didn't land a single quad either, very worrying for him & his team {& GPF is coming up fast too........}

I'm sorry that Jamal is only 3rd & therfore unlikely to get to Euros or Worlds this season.

I actually hope that Stephane will come back in shape!
He is such a good skater when he is feeling well and a good fight between him and Brian at the Euros would be very exciting

Sheena, I heard that since Moris will still participate in Junior Worlds, it is likely
that he will go to the senior Euros, but Jamal will actually attend at Worlds.
So maybe there is still a chance to see him this season.

I had no idea where to post this info -> the compulsory dance - yankee polka was drawn to be skated at Euros 2008 & 4Continents Championships (the remaining two were austrian waltz and argentine tango).
The draw for compulsory dance to be skated at Worlds 2008 will be held during Junior Worlds.
