It's really sad that Nobunari has been affected so much by what happened earlier this year No .
He is a very talented skater and i hope he'll be back stronger next year and do well hugs

Manu, it's certainly very sad. Let's hope indeed, that he will sort things out and will be back next season.
Meanwhile... Takahashi won the Nationals with two quads (one in combination) and two triple axels in his LP.
Brian will have to be very strong and make a superb performance to beat him, I say, Daisuke is his biggest rival in the upcoming Worlds.

He is definitely very strong at the moment, a worthy rival for Brian

But usually competition helps Brian to perform better, so lets hope it will work this time too :super:

Well done to Daisuke who certainly skated superbly at his National championships!

Another snippet of news is that Alisa Drei (29) of Finland has, after suffering a knee injury at SC which won't heal, decided to retire. She is a trained sport physiologyst & hopes to stay in skating. I always admired her for her application & the way she improved beyond recognition when faced with the upcoming challenge in Finnish skating.

I don't think it has been said here and I've just found out that Stefan Lindemann won't attend neither Euros nor Worlds pale He had two operations and now is recovering - but it seems everything is going fine (here's about it).
I really hoped to meet him in Zagreb.

Friends who have met Stefan say he is a very nice & friendly young man. I wish him a full & speedy receovery - another skater with "bounceability"!!

Latest news on Kevin is that he needs a hip operation (not urgent but necessary to carry on skating long term, I'm told) it comes from a bad fall in 2005 & the surgery should be happening in April - after Euros & Worlds, doctors had previously thought it was his back that was injured. I'm sure that his bad fall at GPF didn't help!?!

Oh, it's sad to hear the news about Stefan and Kevin. I wish them both full recovery. I am really looking forward to see Kevin in Zagreb. Pity Lindemann won't attend.

Just noticed a couple of little things from the recent ISU 'decisions' list,

1) Senior & Junior Grand Prix finals are to be united from next season (ie. held in the same place at the same time - could be interesting!)

2) 4Cs 2009 is in Vancouver, obviously a practice run for the Olympics the following year.

Kevin will normally be able to compete next season as well.. He can wait with surgery till the end of the season and will probably have it in April... He needs to recover at least 3 months after that, but that just means a very calm summer. He seems pretty optimistic about it, seeing as now he is skating with pain almost constantly... Would like to see what he does without it.. Smile

Hope Stefan recovers quickly... Never fun to have to miss a season...
