Two other snippets - one happy, the other not -

Nancy Kerrigan is expecting a baby in May

Dorothy Hamill has breast cancer

I'm sure that we will all be thinking of them & hoping for the best.

(edited because I cannot spell! Embarassed )

"Przeglad Sportowy" (Polish biggest sport newspaper) announced its choice for Sportsman of the Year yesterday evening during the annual gala. It was 73th edition of the contest - the winners (top 10) were chosen by the readers (this year the top 3 was as follows: 1. Adam Malysz - ski jumper, 2 - Euzeniusz Smolarek - football player, 3 - Otylia Jedrzejczak - swimmer) this may give you some idea of popularity of certain sport disciplines in Poland Rolling Eyes )

Siudeks received "Super champion award" for their overall achievements. clap

i just read this article on johnny.
http://www.phillymag.com/articles/johnny_drama/page1

this journalist kind of annoyed me. she seems to look for scandal more then for news on a figure skater. and also, if you spend one whole day interviewing a skater, shouldn't there be things like questions you came up with and interesting answers, rather then a summary of what other journalist already said???

well, i found this article weirdly done tire la langue but still interesting to read.

Cristopher Bowman has been found dead in a motel in the US aged 40. (most of the youngsters may not have heard of him) He was a top skater late 1980's-early 1990's a rival of Kurt Browning & Todd Eldredge. Twice US champion & twice a Worlds medalist, 4th in 1992 Olympics, he is usually considered a lost or wasted talent & had a knack for getting into trouble - drugs, drink, guns etc - the "bad boy" of his time. I remember him coming to Dundonald Ice Bowl for one of their early ice shows (back in the days when they held good ice shows!!), Kurt Browning was there another year - just before winning his 1st World title.

Melissa & Denis' accident at SC has cost them the whole season, hope they come back even stronger & better next year!

Two more snippets.....

Emily Hughes has withdrawn from US nationals due to a hip injury - she cannot train for about a month, so it looks like her season could be over early.

KVDP is not the only one anticipating surgery right after Worlds, Miki Ando is planning to have April operation which will hopefully stop her shoulder from dislocating so readily (it can even happen when she is asleep Shocked ), a 3 month recovery is expected & she hopes to be back for the GP next season.

Wishing both girls good health!
