Here's a major bombshell for ya! LOL According to the ISU Plush is no longer eligible to compete. Scroll down to number 5 for the official ruling.

I'd say Plush goofed....big time. LOL On the other hand, maybe he doesn't give a rat's a$$.

Shocked so because he went to many shows he won't be able to compete for the upcoming season??? that's a weird rule...

Bublijojo, it was because he didn't go to Worlds but skated in KOI few weeks later.
I still think Plushenko will complaint about this (he has couple of weeks time to do it) and maybe he'll be back !?! I never really liked him but it's sad if his competitive career ends like this.

Basically....yes, lol. The rule is designed to prevent skaters from "claiming" that they're too injured to compete but, then, going back on that claim by skating in a non-competition production. In addition, Plush needed permission from the Russian Federation to skate in the KOI show as well as some others; the Rus. Fed refused to give him that permission because they were getting threatened by the ISU that if Plush skated there would be serious consequences, namely, not only Plush would be sactioned but, also, the Russian Federation! So....the Rus. Fed. bent to the ISU's rules and refused to give Plush the permission he needed. Plushenko skated anyway! He knew what he was getting himself into with this; the guy's no dummy. However he chose to skate anyway. I supposed when you look at the huge amount of money Plush would have received for his skating appearances, you can understand why he handled it as he did.

There are all sorts of rumors traversing the boards about this mess, lol. Plush does get a chance to petition in an attempt to get his eligible status restored. I think there's a time limit on that, though, of around 21 days or so. Don't quote me on that time limit, though; it may be shorter than that, lol. It should be noted that this is not the first time Plushenko has pulled this same kind of stunt.

Maybe he needed the money more than he needed competitions. I have read in an article that Plushenko accused the russian federation for bad handling of money and that he sold his car to pay his coaches and his costumes...lol He won silver medal at the olympics and he sold his car because he didn't have money while Brian bought Lorenzo's bike Razz

Elvis Stojko is married, to a Mexican skater called Gladys Orozco. You can find a online newspaper report on GS (sorry, but my computer won't let me post a link!)

I can't say I'm all that surprised. If Johnny does decide to return next year and continue to Sochi, then I hope he learns how to work the COP. As a fan, I want to see him to continue on (eventually), be successful, and most of all, be happy.

Thanks Mary. Smile

This is Johhny's bane, lol. Because he "skates for himself," as he puts it, he misses out on racking up points in CoP and the chance to stand on the medal podium. Johnny's days to shine were back in the 6.0 era and shortly after but they could still shine brighly if he'd get CoP-friendly programs. The rules of the game have changed but he refuses to change with it, and his chances to gain silver and gold medals goes down the toilet. I really hope he gets his act together (perfects his quad) and becomes a true competitor for Brian at Sochi (assuming Brian will aim for Sochi, of course, lol).

I've had the sense that Johnny's desire to win medals has been waning over the last couple of seasons. His decision to sit out the up-coming season out comes has no surprise. The question is....will he find the motivation to come back to the competitive ice. Right now, no one knows that answer, including Johnny.

its not official but i have read that Rockne Brubaker (pair skater who won a gold in 2008 and 2009 nationals, not absolutely sure) has paired up with sasha cohen because he ended his former partnership... they are already practising together off and on the ice... this news came straight from California - so that means i am not going to believe it until it will be announced officially... but i would be very happy if it would be the truth because i missed sasha so much! but for now it is just an interesting rumour Laughing

Interesting indeed!! Shocked Well, Sasha is very petite and incredibly flexible, which could result in some cool lifts!!

Caro Kostner is returning to Oberstdorf:

Huth says that it has always been possible for her to return. For now he also needs to be a psychologist, because, according to him, Caro has lost lots of her naturalness in the US.

Before we get too far into any discussion as to the likelihood of a Cohen/Brubaker pairing, let's wait for some official word from the USFSA on this. Spreading rumors goes against what our board is about, lol. There is a lot of talk on various other messageboards about this but, as yet, there is no official word. Let those other boards generate and run with the rumors, lol. Meanwhile we'll wait for official confirmation. We can speculate, though, as long as everyone recognizes that is what it is....second guessing on the poster's part.

I just saw that the Kerrs announced on their website that they will be competing next season! There was a lot of speculation about their plans after last season, and I'm really happy they're not retiring yet.

Peter Tchernyshev will choreograph their free dance.
