PostSubject: Hungarian Nationals   14.01.08 12:53

There was the Hungarian nationals at the weekend. Some intersting things:
- after more than 30 years there was again a pair in Hungary. The Hungarian Kristóf Trefil has a partner from the USA but they represent Hungary. They wont be at senior international competitions this year, but they are promising according to people who were there.
- however, there was only one dance couple - Nora Hoffmann and Maxim Zavozin had to wait for their debut because of the nationality-things, Attila Elek seems to have no partner right now (Loren Rabinowitz preferred to continue her studies), György Elek also put his studies first so Zsuzsanna Nagy is now searching for a partner. A junior couple will represent Hungary at the Europeans.
- the only real competition was amongst ladies. Sebestyén won of course, but there was also a big surprise: Katie Hadford (an American girl with Hungarian roots) placed before Viktoria Pavuk and she will be the second lady sent to the Europeans, not Pavuk. The only problem is that the federation had already announced their entries for the Europeans (Sebestyén, Pavuk), so i think Pavuk has the right to be angry. If the fed wanted to decide at the nationals, why hadnt they put a TBA on their entry list and waited for the results? Now Viki Pavuk is offended and Sebestyén and Hadford are getting some vulgar comments on Hungarian message boards...

i was there Smile
i was surprised at the federation's decision. Viki protected her result, but i guess nothing will change.. Disregarding the scandal, it was a good competition before the European Championship. But i felt sad when i saw Attila Elek sat on grandstand Sad

I think that the Hungarian federation seems to have really put their foot in it here - to announce the Euros teams before Nationals is leaving everything in a mess at this point. The 'vulgar comments' are being directed in the wrong place, Julia & Katie haven't done anything wrong - except skate better than Victoria!

Could Zsuzsanna Nagy not skate with Attila Elek????

I was really only asking a 'silly' question, but as neither of them currently has a partner - then why not?
