Thanks for posting the scores, girls! Very Happy I have been unable to watch the tv broadcasts, but I am watching tonight!

I was very, very surprised by the Ladies SP results. Wow! Not at all what I expect, but we shall see what happens tonight!

Free dance happened a few seconds ago on NBC.

Belbin/Agosto- gold
Davis/White- silver
Navarro/Bommentre- Bronze
Samuelson/Bates- pewter

Other results not yet available at icenetwork.

B/A, D/W, and N/B will represent the US at the Worlds.

Dick Button described D/W's performance as "romantic, sexual..." Oh this is just as worse as Uncle Dick calling some 14 year old kid in the women's event delicious. affraid

Dick Button has outdone himself. Ugh, the commentary is horrendous. And I love when Davis/White were sitting in the K&C, and the camera turned and started to wonder off. What? confused

And I really loved Davis/White's performance. But I wouldn't describe it as "sexual." Lol. But I loved the music. The Beatles are my favorite band ever! :super:

KIMMIE AND ALISSA!!!! pleures

Neither Nagasu, Flatt, nor Zhang are eligible to go to the World Championships. This leaves Wagner, Liang, and Hacker for the team but the US committee is considering Meissner for the team based on her results in past competitions. We don't have a women's team yet.

Button calls Flatt "delicious". I want to hurl something at him now. :shoot:

This has been the most shocking women's event I've ever seen. Last year was surprising but this takes the cake.

This has been a suprising competition (to say the least) & the result presents USFSA with a knotty little problem. Normally, as I understand it, they pride themselves in sending the top three (eligible in this case) finishers at Nationals to Worlds but now they have to be like other feds & "consider" Kimmie's other results. This is hard on Katrina Hacker who has not had the same opportunity to get international results (*ie. GP) as Kimmie but who finished ahead of her in Nationals.

Maybe they should send both of them to 4CCs with the top finisher to win the final Worlds spot? (assuming, of course, that Wagner & Liang are already going - or are they more likely to decide to send Meissner & Wagner & have Hacker & Liang compete for the final place?)

This is the Hungarian situation in reverse........

LP protocols (starting from page 21):
http://www.usfigureskating.org/content/events/200708/uschamps/protocols/seniorladies-protocols.pdf

The results are surprising, to say the least Shocked but sending skaters who finished out of top3 would question the sense of holding nationals I guess scratch

I've just read (on ISU board) that Wagner, Liang & Meissner will go to Worlds, while Wagner, Liang & Hacker go to 4CCs.

Even though I'm so happy for Bebe, Ashley, Caroline, Mirai, and Rachel, I'm totally heartbroken over Kimmie. :enpleure:

Thanks for posting the results, Kiki and Jojo. I'm really glad that Mirai won the Women's gold even though I wish she was old enough to go to worlds. Sad The competition last night was nail-biting and the end results were the most shocking I've seen in a while. What happened to Kimmie? Is she buckling under pressure?

And as for Kimmie going to Worlds still...I don't think that's fair. It is Nationals after all. They're supposed to pick the top three. And Kimmie performed terribly. Anyways, I feel like we have a rather weak American team going to Worlds. I mean, they're not bad. They just don't have the international experience. So, we shall see...

And I'm so excited about the men's competition tonight, but I don't know if I will be able to watch it on tv...Sad

Julie, you would rather have Katrina Hacker go to Worlds instead of Kimmie? Nothing against Katrina personally, but she has no senior international experience. I checked her page on IceNetwork and there is no competitive history (at least on that page, I'm still searching for something). Her jump content was not as difficult as Kimmie's and she barely beat Kimmie in the LP. Katrina is going to 4CC, where she will get some experience. The USFSA made the right decision to send Kimmie to Worlds. She has the experience and the talent to be on the team and will represent the US with dignity.

We have a weak team? Suspect Ashley Wagner is the reigning World Junior Bronze Medalist and won a medal at TEB. Bebe has been on the senior level for a long time and has plenty of international experience, although this is her first trip to Worlds. I'm not too worried about the World team.

I think the committee made a good choice for sending Kimmie to Worlds instead of Katrina. I'm not worried at all. This gives Kimmie a chance to kick some major ass at World's to say to her critics "I'm still here and I'm still strong." I hope this does the same for Alissa next season.

I have nothing against Hacker or Kimmie, but I think they should keep the top three rule. That's kind of the point for Nationals. And I was saying that US has a weak team compared to the likes of Japan. I think our girls good, but when compared to them, it would take a performance of a lifetime to beat them. But you never know how the ice will be.

And congrats to Evan on gold!!! Yay! Very Happy And Johnny did a good job too!

i am personally outraged. i believe is called a tie because noone wins. the only fair way to go is to have 2 gold medals. i know in other sports if there is a tie they would have had 2 first places , no second place and the next score after them would have got bronze. but i never considered this fair either.

i want to scream at someone. i know it's crazy but i find it hard to believe that it's possible to really have the same score. it's like someone needed the drama. ok, i know i have a telenovela in my head, but i am angry.

oh, well, congrats to johnny on finally doing the quad!!! good luck to worlds johnny!!!!

It's not just Nationals they take into account. It weighs heavily, but they also take into consideration international results (it's either the past two years or past year). If taking into account the past two seasons, Hacker has no international results. Kimmie has a World title. She finished fourth at Worlds last year and third in the LP. It's logical to send Kimmie. Plus, now Hacker gets some experience at 4 Continents.

The Men's LP is now being shown on NBC. I can't wait to see Johnny and Evan, and see how badly Johnny was robbed.

Wow, Johnny was robbed!!! His program was cleaner, had better choreography, and (for the first time that I've seen) skated with his heart on his sleeve (or chest as it were lol). Almost all of Evan's jumps were shaky and yes, he does the straight-line footwork very well, but come on! Those judges are so biased in Evan's favor. irritated.

I hope Johnny shows Evan who the boss is at Worlds! Rock on, Johnny! :super:

I wanted Evan to win but you're right... JOHNNY WUZ ROBBED!!!!! I seriously thought he was gonna win it and I wanted him to but WTF.

I really hated how NBC dramatized the Johnny/Evan rivalry.

Yes, Johnny. You can say bitch on TV. Wink Funny how they bleeped him but it's open almost every show you watch.

If I was a Johnny fan, I would be outraged. I personally love Evan, so I'm happy that he kept his title. However, I really feel like Evan has lost that quirky spark he always had a couple of years ago. Did anyone else think that he didn't look excited at all about the gold?

I feel sorry for Johnny because I did think his free skate was better. The jumps and landings were better, and he pulled a quad! Yay! And seeing him lying on that couch before the podium was depressing. He was obviously upset (and confused, lol), but he handled the dissapointment well.

Anyways, I would have thought that Johnny would have taken gold (and so did my friends watching). But now we will see what happens at Worlds, right?
