| | Katie. wrote: | Sorry that it took so long. I had some registretation problems and I had to register all over again...... Well yeah, we have quite long words. But I don't know how much it is similar to hungarian so it would be interesting to find out. If I write a sentence or two here, then maybe it will clear this thing out a bit. Or maybe it's better if I just copy a short text from wikipedia about figure skating...
Taitoluistelu on urheilulaji, jossa luistellaan jääkentällä taitoluistimilla ja esitetään erilaisia ohjelmia musiikin tahdissa. Taitoluistelussa pyritään yhtä aikaa sekä teknisesti vaativaan että taiteelliseen ja musiikkia tulkitsevaan suoritukseen, jossa eri elementit kuten hypyt ja piruetit muodostavat kiinteän kokonaisuuden.
Should I translate that in english... I can do that later if it is necessary.. |
Katie..
I understood a little-little bit... It is not true that hungarian and finnish suggest each other... The truth: their old language (very old times, after Christ 300, maybe, or earlier, placed easter side of Ural ) was the same...but this people migrated other ways, and their languge changed... Hungarians met with turkish people and slavonic people, and we arrived to Karpatian basin a.c. 986.
The two languages have same points, etc. language-system...our l.s. is clumpig too (put the suffixes after the word), and there are changes what we can look for...
and interessant example:
finnish: kota hungarian: ház their past is the same... changes: what was K in finnish, it is hungarian H, almost every word. and what was T, it changed Z, intervocalic position. And all old word lost it's last vocal...this is the key...
Hungarian language has almost 1000 word, which have same past with finnish words.... |

Katie? what's your opinion about this strange relationship? if you want, i can say more examples from old finnish-hungarian (hungarian named it "finnugor")... by the way, how's like the weather this time in Suomi? | Hello/ hei Twitti! It is very interesting to hear about the history of our languages. I have heard about it before but not much. That example is very interesting and I would be more than happy if you tell us more! Finnugor! Not bad! And I can see that you can speak finnish. Warms my heart. :super: Opiskelen myös yliopistossa. Mutta nyt vietän ansaittua kesälomaa. Weather is nice here. Thank for asking. It was very warm and sunny today. And how's the weather there? |

| Ahm, weather? It's strange...'cause all day is very hot, you go out and become cooked...but evening and night often rains and it lightens... So, something about "finnugor" relationship... There were regular voicechanges, after hungarians left asian places before christ times...and they met with other folks, it changed some things... what was the same in old "finnugor",I can tell some examples about voicechanges and some words what we can search back... Hugarian and suomalainen languge is in relationship with lapp, estonian, and other languages from Balt places... the most interesting example is the inflexion, watch this: (what I write hungarian, finnish means the same) Én vagyok - minä olen Te vagy - sinä olet Ő van - hän on Mi vagyunk - me olemme Ti vagytok - te olette Ők vannak - He ovat This is the inflection of the substantive verb with the personal pronouns. Than next step I write the numbers... 1, egy - yksi 2, kettő - kaksi 3, három - kolme (remember k>h spiratization what I wrote) 4, négy - neljä 5, öt - viisi 6, hat - kuusi 7, hét - seitsemän 8, nyolc - kahdeksan 9, kilenc - yhdeksan 10, tíz - kymmenen 11, tizenegy - yksitoista take this word: "száz" - "sata" I told T is changed Z in intervocalic position watch this: sata > sa za > saz > szaz > száz isn't woderful? Later I'll tell some things (I have to prepare my exam...I don't want it but I have to, it's very important exam...) |

What culture you study? Finnish or hungarian? When I had finnish language lessons, we studied some culture too, about finnish places, buildings, etc. My facultacy (hungarian language and literature) makes scholarship journeys to Finland, we can go to Jyväskylä and some other places to study the language, because the hungarian language-researching's most important profile is to make relationships with our language-kinship. |

But I wanna see some day, where joulupukki lives:) and a reindeer too:) My friends told stories about Helsinki and Jyväskylä... By the way, I really-really like Kiira Korpi too, I've a photo with her... this is my facebook profile, find me and send a friend request and you can see my photos from Zagreb... http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1259898598 I live in Debrecen, this is the second biggest town of Hungary, east side of the country...This is very nice and we have beautiful buldings, squares... What is your town in Finland? |

| Hi everyone!
I'm going to Helsinki for the Euro's (can't wait!!!). So I'm going to need to learn some Finnish words! Can you tell me how I ask how I get to the arena, for example? Or that I actually do not speak Finnish, but that I do speak English... those sentences would be rather helpful... |

| Hello Roosje! Sorry you had to wait for your answer for so long. Just throw some sentences you wanna know and I translate them in to finnish. How I get to the arena: Kuinka pääsen areenalle. It's rather calming to know that you can always find someone in finland who speaks english. so no worries there. But of course it's nice to impress people by knowing something in finnish Makes us so proud Here are some useful words: Hello: Hei Thank you: Kiitos Can you help me?: Voitko auttaa minua? Do you speak English?: Puhutko englantia? I'm sorry: Anteeksi Nice to meet you: Hauska tavata My name is --: Minun nimeni on -- Yes: Kyllä No: Ei Good day: Hyvää päivää Good morning: Hyvää huomenta Good afternoon: Hyvää iltapäivää Good evening: Hyvää iltaa Good night: Hyvää yötä And welcome to Helsinki!! |

figure skating: taitoluistelu |
That's the real finnish writing or just the pronunciation? I ask this because I would to do a calligraphy with this word. |
